FAQS - ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

  • It is important to understand that although babies are not talking, they are communicating. Language develops when parents become consistent in their responses to a baby's early communicative attempts. With the direction of a speech pathologist, parents can learn ways of noticing and responding to their baby's early communication to encourage language development and talking.

  • Over the years, I have worked with young toddlers with social communication difficulties, some on the Autism Spectrum and some not. Parent coaching to target some of these early social skills is key.

Navigating the “system” while you are waiting to have a developmental assessment is tricky, but rest assured there are things that you can do.

  • I consult parents who are seeking assurance and guidance. Schedule a one-time consultation using the contact form or email me directly at hello@happybabytalk.com. We can connect and decide on the best plan.

  • During the first three years of life, a child is making over a million neural connections per second. How do these neural connections happen? Through meaningful back-and-forth interactions, the same foundation is needed for language to develop.

  • Parents should always trust their instincts and it is important to look at the big picture when looking at language development. By that I mean, how are your toddler’s gross motor skills, fine motor skills, social skills, play skills etc? Early intervention does help. If you need guidance arrange for a consultation with an SLP and get your questions answered. Do not go down the Google rabbit hole.

  • Be sure to check this out with your individual health insurance provider. Many of our families do have their sessions covered by their insurance plans. A receipt will be provided when sessions are completed.

Instead, they serve as workshops for parents to acquire knowledge about interactive play-based techniques that they can implement at home to foster their baby's early communication skills. Once the session concludes, I will provide you with a receipt. However, it is important for you to independently verify your health insurance coverage prior to registering, as I cannot guarantee it.

  • My hourly rate is $165/hour.

A communication assessment is typically 2 hours.

A telephone consultation varies depending on the questions that you might have.
